Assignment: Knowing Your “Why”

Submit a 3- to 5-page Self-Assessment in which you do the following:

·         Explain why you are pursuing a doctoral degree.  
·         Briefly describe the results of your SWOT analysis.
·         Formulate three goals you plan to accomplish as a result of (or in conjunction with) completion of your DBA degree.
·         Compose at least three personal or professional strengths that will aid you in achieving your goals and at least three challenges that might prevent you from reaching your goals.
·         Assess how prepared you are to overcome these challenges, including any strategies you have developed or resources you may draw on to help you achieve your goals.
·         Conclude why earning your DBA degree can not only help you to achieve your goals but can create opportunities for you as a global change agent to devise solutions to complex business problems and to effect positive social change in the world and/or your community.

Week 2 Assignment: Coping With Change: Change Management Models and Philosophies

Submit a scholarly, 2- to 4-page evaluation of two change management philosophies and models. Your evaluation must include the following:

·         An examination of the reasons for successful organizational change
·         An evaluation of your personal experience with or knowledge of organizational changes, both successful and unsuccessful
·         A dissection of the organizational change philosophies and or models that contain concepts that support and/or refute your successful and unsuccessful organizational change experiences

·         Information you will present in your professional profile (which may be placed on one or more social media platforms), including specific text you will use to identify yourself and your interests for those who might be interested in following you or joining your PLN
·         A categorized, annotated list of at least 5 people or groups that you might add to your PLN (through their Twitter feed, blog, LinkedIn page, etc.), including the following for each person or group:

• A brief (1–2 paragraphs) rationale for why you would include the person or group in your PLN
• A brief (1 paragraph) description of the process by which you found the person or group you added to your PLN, e.g., by browsing a group’s Twitter feed and then deciding to add it to your own PLN, by locating another person the group’s feed follows, by finding a group on Facebook and deciding to send a friend request to an individual within that group, etc.

Submit a 5- to 7-page (excluding a title page and References section) Professional Development Plan (PDP). In your Plan, do the following:

·         Further develop the goals you crafted in Week 1 of this course. Each goal’s narrative must incorporate the following:

o   A statement of your goal
o   An explanation of your motivation for wanting to achieve the goal and how it relates to your personal values
o   A brief description of the steps you intend to take to accomplish your goal, including any relevant tools, strategies, or resources
o   An explanation of how you plan to use technology and/or social media to promote completion of your goal
o   An explanation of how these steps reflect consideration of personal strengths and weaknesses relevant to the goal
o   A timeline for completion of your goal

·         Use your SWOT analysis, PLN, and “The New Drivers of Leadership” Self-Assessment results as guides to ensure alignment.
·         Include appropriate references cited in accordance with appropriate APA formatting. Your References section must include a minimum of five APA-formatted, scholarly citations. Your resources must include the following:

o   Two to three readings (e.g., book, periodical, journal, etc.)
o   At least two forms of technology and/or social media sites that will contribute to the formation of your own PDP

·         Devise one or more business-related problems related to your chosen topic.
·         Speculate what type of data you might need to research one of these business-related problems and how you might go about collecting that data.
